After eight rounds, the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team finished sixth in the group. The competition was extremely close, and the final round determined which three national teams would advance to the next stage.
Velid Nazdrajić was the most successful player for Bosnia and Herzegovina, recording five victories.
Another appearance by our national team at the World Championship confirms that we have firmly established ourselves on the international backgammon scene. At the same time, we strengthened and reaffirmed friendships with numerous national teams and players, while also earning new points for our national team, which will be important in future competitions.
The Board of the Backgammon Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina entrusted the organization of the national team’s trip to the team leader, who, together with the selected national team players, organized the journey and secured the necessary financial resources.
The players involved in organizing this project were: Omer Dervišbegović, Gordan Tomić, Benjamin Čamo, Rusmir Jamaković, Draženko Vučina, Adis Karadža, Aldin Pobrić, and Velid Nazdrajić.
Organizing this national team appearance was extremely challenging, while the costs of participation were exceptionally high by our standards.
For more than three months, the team worked hard to ensure that everything was successfully organized. The championship itself was very demanding and exhausting, while the team’s return journey lasted as long as 17 hours.
We congratulate the players who successfully organized the trip of our national team, dedicated their time and effort, found sponsors who provided financial support for the team’s participation, and invested significant personal financial resources.
Bosnia and Herzegovina was the only national team from the region to compete in London, and we are proud that our flag once again flew at the World Championship.
In the individual category, which featured 235 players, the world title was won by Frederik Mikkelsen of Denmark, who defeated Pia Jeppesen of Belgium 17–0 in the final.
There were no representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina competing in the individual category.
The next World Championship will be held in September next year in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
